Our Mission

It is our vision to foster a diverse and collaborative environment without boundaries where regardless of their position everyone has a voice and inherent value. We strive to exemplify trust and inspiration to empower all staff members to continue to learn and grow and become the best versions of themselves. We believe that a staff that feels supported will be better able to offer the best possible care to patients and clients and that we can foster an environment where our care staff and our clients can work together as a team to make excellent veterinary care accessible to our community.

About Us

Old Growth Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care (OGVECC) is the only independently owned and operated 24/7 emergency, critical care, and specialty hospital serving the South end of the Puget Sound. Nestled in the heart of Puyallup, we provide the highest quality stabilization, diagnostic, and treatment options. OGVECC is also the only LVT (licensed veterinary technician) owned veterinary business in the State of Washington. We are passionate about creating a future in which veterinarians and veterinary professionals can provide care in a private setting without the oversight of large corporations.

Our hospital began with a dream by the founders Mitchell Fults, DVM, DACVECC and Shannan Hunter, LVT, VTS (SAIM) to create a new vision for the futures of veterinary professionals: Old Growth, New Vision. Many hospitals are frequently unable to see ill patients due to chronic staffing challenges. These staff are disengaged and experiencing burnout due to a lack of support and mentorship. Our staff is comprised of knowledgeable, caring, skilled, and compassionate professionals who have dedicated themselves to the care of animals and the families who love them. Our founders are dedicated to ensuring the staff is supported in their pursuit of becoming the best versions of themselves. We are a practice that believes strongly in diversity and inclusion and believes that all employees have value and a voice.

The difficulty in receiving quality veterinary care is also exacerbated by the ever-increasing barrier to care: high prices. OGVECC is changing the paradigm by lowering this barrier to care, while still providing excellent quality of medicine, a livable wage for staff members, and keeping staff engaged through continued support and mentorship. Better care for staff leads to better care for patients, better outcomes for patients, and better experiences for their families.
